Cookies & Device Storage

LifeOrg uses cookies and similar device storage to maintain sessions and support requested features. Some information is kept by the application locally rather than in a cookie. Whether consent is required depends on the technology’s actual purpose, not the label used for it.

  1. Main storage purposes
  2. Necessary and optional technologies
  3. Maps and external resources
  4. Managing stored information

1. Main storage purposes

Session information can expire when the session ends; persistent information remains until its configured expiry, replacement or deletion. The lifetime depends on the identity service, application version and the storage item. We do not represent all local content as a short-lived session cookie.

  • Account sessions and sign-in security: the identity service uses browser state to authenticate you, maintain or renew a session and secure sign-in redirects. Blocking this information may prevent authentication or cause repeated sign-in requests.
  • Choices you request: language, display/theme preferences and similar settings can be saved so that your selection continues across visits. Clearing storage can reset those choices.
  • Application operation and local content: local databases or browser storage may retain records, synchronization state, caches and offline information needed for the feature you use. These copies are separate from server-side account records.
  • Consent choices, where an optional technology is offered: a record can store your decision so that LifeOrg can respect it and demonstrate the choice made.

2. Necessary and optional technologies

A technology strictly necessary to transmit a communication or provide a service you explicitly request can be used without optional cookie consent where applicable law permits. This is assessed by purpose; an analytics or advertising tool does not become necessary simply because it is useful to us.

Non-essential analytics, advertising or similar device access requiring consent must remain inactive until you choose it. Any such choice is separate from accepting the Terms, offers an accessible refusal and can be changed later. Silence, continued browsing and preselected optional choices are not consent.

Server-side operational logs are described in the Privacy Notice. A cookie banner does not by itself authorize all server processing, and refusing optional cookies does not disable security records needed for the service.

3. Maps and external resources

Opening a map can load resources directly from MapTiler, allowing that provider to receive your IP address and technical request information. Location searches can also involve the providers described in our provider notice. This network disclosure can occur independently of advertising cookies; accepting or refusing a cookie banner is not the sole control over map requests.

Device or browser location permission controls access to device location where used. You can decline that permission and use a manual place search where available. A requested search or map view may still reveal a place or area of interest.

4. Managing stored information

Use your browser or device settings to inspect, block or clear cookies and local site/app data. Use LifeOrg preference and consent controls where available. Clearing data may sign you out, reset settings or remove unsynchronized local information; export important records first.

Clearing local storage or uninstalling the app does not delete your server-side account. Account deletion also cannot erase exports or independent copies you saved elsewhere. For an explanation of a particular storage item or help withdrawing an optional choice, contact privacy@lifeorg.app.
